Surreal Mechanical (pen)

Mechanically wrong, Visually right

There’s no time like

Engineering Cogs and Mechanisms in a completely different way, I created a design which still made sense despite everything being technically out of place. Filigree flowing into clock faces, roses blending into architecture, switches into cogs, intricacy’s became more and more surreal as each subject pieced into the next.

This composition brought my love for real and surreal details together in a tattoo like style I became ever more inspired by. Encasing the entire panel in the most intricate details I could create by hand using only black fine liner pens.

Now.

The design portrayed exactly what I intended. Seamless transitions of a dark and elegant aesthetic with a hint of religious influence. Inspiration from flowers and cathedrals alongside the mechanisms which make them chime.

Adding a final touch, I added some specific sentimental times which the client requested. Both meaningful, yet subtle, primarily for his eyes only. With every detail I was determined to create something entirely unique.
